“There is a song amongst the flowers in the evening that the ear of man cannot discern.
But if you were a butterfly you could hear the Opera of Worms” R.R
SWIMMING POOL presents: Welcome to Opera of Worms: on moths and butterflies and how to orient oneself in images (2021). This project reflects on the isolation of the suburbs and the knowledge of its landscape - a world where the measure cup of success is the maintenance of the garden.
Opera of Worms slides into a sphere of borrowed time, to a place beyond the horizon - where lawns are never mowed on Sundays. We have seen the night create the day - in all its nocturnal truths and absurdity, we can’t wait for a new dawn.
Inspired by Thomas Renwart, Rene Ricard, Puccini, Aby Warburg, Georges Didi-Hubermann, Julius Eastman, David Lynch, Dalida, Malcolm McLaren, Emily Dickinson, Luigi Russolo, Margaret Lanternan (the Log Lady),John Cage, Kaija Saariaho, Sally Tomato, ...
Listening experience best saved for times when your thoughts grow a garden in your mind or for moments you'll feel like racing with the sun.
